If you own or plan to buy a high-end vehicle, paint protection film (PPF) wrapping it with is the absolute best way to protect the car's paint job from rock chips, road debris, contaminants, pollution, and minor damages. At Menard Premium Detailing, paint protection film and ceramic coating is our speciality. Clients often ask “Is there anything I need to do to maintain my PPF”.
Refrain From Touching the Film After Installation
It may take a few days for the protection film to bond and cure. Do not touch the film for at least one week after the installation. Also, don't be concerned about some bubbling during this period. Ideally, it will disappear once curing is complete.
Note: Low temperatures and high humidity could extend the curing process beyond one week.
Let the Film Cure
Avoid washing the vehicle in the days following pick-up as doing so could hamper the curing process. If possible, leave the car in a garage until after the curing process is complete. Schedule your 2-week follow-up appointment. This lets us look over your vehicle and make certain the film is perfect. This is included with every Paint Protection Film package we offer.
Schedule a Maintenance Wash or Hand Wash it Yourself
After installing the film, avoid any commercial car washes to ensure the film lasts for extended periods. When visiting car washes (although highly not recommended), be wary about using a high-pressure washer near the film's edges. Notably, you can use 99% isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip on an extra tough spot. Don't use brushes, terry cloth, or paper products to clean a protected vehicle, as these materials can dull or damage the surfaces.
Invest In High-Quality Cleaning Products
Avoid low-quality car wash products that may contain harsh chemicals. We recommend the entire CarPro line of detail products and have an educated staff that can help you choose the best products for your needs.
Wash the Car Regularly
No matter how clean the car appears, ensure you give it a nice wash every two weeks. Routine cleaning helps keep the vehicle pristine. It is best to wash your car in the shade or inside a garage.
